Wizards are in form simiar to Men. They are the product of a union between a wizard and a daughter of Men, and age quite rapidly. At the age of about seventeen they find their staff, and by the age of twenty they take the appearance of forty-year old Men, and by thirty they appear quite ancient. Wizards are not immortal, but they do live for a very, very long time. Because of their descent they are not entirely Light by nature. Most wizards tend to side with the Light and good, but there are Dark wizards, which are often refered to as "rogue wizards."
Wizards' staffs are quite unique. They are made of what is called "living wood," and only wizards know how they are formed or what trees give such wood. At the top of each staff is embedded a stone of some sort or other. These stones may be any colour, but all have a strange luminescence pulsing from the core. Wizards staffs are also unique in that they are named and have personalities of sorts. Wizards powers come almost entirely from their staffs. Some wizards use spoken spell-words to work their magic and others do not.
