Dwarves are short, inclined to be overweight. They have thick, wiry hair which they wear long, plaited and held with metal bands. They also grow long beards and moustaches, which they also plait and hold with metal bands. They are jovial, coarse fellows who get along with nearly anyone, but despise Elves. They are very stubborn and loyal to their kind. They are warlike and often rash. They are miners and experts regarding precious metals, gems, and minerals, which they love as only Dwarves and dragons can. They are inclined to smoke a lot, and always carry short, stocky pipes in their mouths. Dwarves, it should be noted, are not immortal but are not conceived and born in the conventional manner; even Dwarves themselves, it is believed, are not certain exactly how they come into being; they simply are, and though they die, there are always more.
Dwarves are inherently Light, though their natural stubbornness and rather coarse earthiness, combined with their quick, hot tempers, often gives the uninformed the impression that they might be neither good nor evil, or even that they might be Dark creatures.
